On one of
the few calm days while the USS Davenport was on weather patrol
in the North Atlantic near Greenland, the Captain asked the
ship's photographer to board a motor lifeboat and take a series
of photos of the ship. This starboard profile is one of those
pictures taken by S1/c Don Roban (note the "weather shack"
that had been installed in place of Gun No. 3 near the rear of
the ship to facilitate the launch of weather balloons).
