My father, Vincent A. Grobbel (BM1/c, USCG), was assigned to the Davenport just before it was commissioned on 15 Feb 1945. He was one of the very last crew members to remain on board, right up until the day it was decommissioned on 4 Feb 1946. Most of the photos in this album were among the more than 200 prints he found in the ship's abandoned "darkroom" on that last day (most of which were shot by Don Roban).
Vince still has those 2.5" x 3.5" snapshots and I have attempted to put some of the more interesting ones in this Photo Album. I also received photos from Duncan Hall and Don Roban which are included in the Album. There are now a total of 52 photos in the Photo Album, plus the 6 images of the Commissioning Program.
